This year, the Great Falls Optimist Club will be joined by the Newcomers of Great Falls in hosting the Fourth Annual “Rock N’ Roll in the Hay,” a barn dance and dinner on Saturday, Nov. 7, 7-11 p.m. at 964 Walker Road in Great Falls. Classic rock music will be provided by Standing Room Only, a local band. King Creole of Great Falls will cater the dinner. Tickets are $50 per person, and include dinner, drinks, beer/wine (two each) and a chance to win wonderful door prizes. In addition, a silent auction will offer a special piece of jewelry donated by Adeler Jewelers of Great Falls, among other things.
Club member Linda Thompson has again donated the use of her refurbished barn in Great Falls for the successful event.
“We always have a terrific time,” said Club President Calvert Thompson. “It’s not every day you get to have a great party and dance in an old barn like this. Linda has fixed up the interior with lights, a stage and country-style decorations that create the perfect ambiance,” she said.
Proceeds from this year’s dance will benefit Camp Fraser, a local camp that brings boys and girls ages 7 to 15 from the Washington, D.C. area out to “the wild woods of Great Falls” for hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, arts and crafts, counseling and more. “The nondenominational camp costs a mere $150 per week per camper,” Thompson said, “and we’re hoping to raise enough through the barn dance to underwrite the costs for at least 20 campers.”
