<sh>Jane Wilhelm, 87, Dies

<bt>Jane Wilhelm, longtime Reston resident and an assistant to Reston founder Robert E. Simon in the community's early days, died on Saturday, March 23 in San Francisco. She was 87 years of age. The family plans a memorial service in Reston in the next few weeks at a time and place to be announced.

<sh>Reston Alcohol Sting

<bt>The Traffic Safety Services Unit, along with the Reston Community Policing Unit, conducted an alcohol sting at 28 locations within the Reston district on March 23. The sting is a part of the Youth Alcohol campaign and was conducted using under age Fairfax County Police Cadets dressed in plain clothing who attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages. The locations that sold alcoholic beverages were the following:

• 7-Eleven Store 303-C Soapstone Drive, Reston.

• 7-Eleven Store 11501 Leesburg Pike, Reston.

• CVS Pharmacy 9871 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls

• Fresh Fields 11660 Plaza America Drive, McLean

Twenty-four other locations did not sell alcoholic beverages to the

Cadets. Four arrests were made in the four establishments which sold

alcohol to the Cadets. and an additional five arrests were made when

an adult was observed purchasing four 24-packs of beer for four

juveniles in front of 13190 Parcher Ave.

<sh>Student Slaps Teacher

<bt>Fairfax County Police will be obtaining petitions for a 13-year-old Reston area girl for assaulting a school teacher at Langston Hughes Middle School on March 20. Properatita Calhoun, an eight-grade teacher, had seen the girl was inappropriately dressed for school and had asked her to cover up. The girl would not immediately comply. Calhoun again requested her to comply, and the teacher directed her to the office. According to the police report, the girl then slapped the teacher's hand. Calhoun then escorted the girl to the office.
