Cox Communications Northern Virginia will transition its Road Runner high-speed Internet customers to the company's new self-managed network, a move designed to provide better performance, long-term service stability and increased customer satisfaction. While Road Runner will continue to focus its efforts on providing Internet services to Time Warner Cable systems, Cox will assume responsibility for providing Internet services to customers in Cox's systems.

Cox's new network will offer consumers high-speed Internet service and a platform for the delivery of advanced broadband-based telecommunications services in the future. The new service offers the same speeds and features that customers currently enjoy with their existing Road Runner product, as well as new features such as enhanced local content, remote email access and additional email addresses.

Dr. Fred Garrison of Centreville Veterinary Hospital in Centreville was named the "Paul F. Landis Virginia Veterinarian of the Year" when 200 veterinarians from around the Commonwealth recently gathered at Hotel Roanoke to participate in the first Virginia Veterinary Conference that the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association has ever presented.

Community Management Corporation of Chantilly has announced several new personnel and internal promotions, according to company President Ronald P. Kirby.

* Alexander M. Earle Jr. has been named division director and will supervise the management of three area homeowners associations: Cameron Station, a 1,242-townhome community in Alexandria; Heritage Hunt, an active adult community in Gainesville; and Montclair, a 3,800-unit homeowners association in Prince William County.

* James Cowell of Arlington has been promoted to vice president and townhouse/garden division director.

* Orion Peevy has been promoted to vice president and high-rise division director. A resident of Fairfax, Peevy is responsible for the contracts and management of three properties.

* CMC won a one-year contract to provide full-service management of the building and amenities at Williamsburg Luxury Condominiums in Arlington. CMC's Sandy Mango will oversee management of this contract.

* CMC was awarded a 19-month contract to provide on-site property management for the Summit Creek Homeowners Association in Clinton, Md. CMC's Jan Ward is managing this contract.

* CMC also earned a one-year renewal for management of the Watergate at Landmark in Alexandria, which is managed by Ron Kirby.

Metropolitan Title and Escrow Company has signed a lease for 4,895 square feet at 14151 Newbrook Drive, Chantilly. The landlord, Consolidated Realty, LLC was represented by Larry Craft and Peter Skoro of Randall H. Hagner & Co. The tenant was represented by Barbara Bechtle and Ingrid Gelinas of Randall H. Hagner & Co.

Richard F. Romar of Centreville is serving as a member of the Accounting Program Advisory Board for the School of Management at Syracuse University. A graduate of Syracuse, Romar works as the chief financial officer for Venture House Group of Washington, D.C. The Accounting Program Advisory Board supports the School of Management's efforts to provide superior educational opportunities to its students.

Manuel Miranda has been named vice president of training and simulation at Unitech Inc. in Centreville. In his new position, Miranda is responsible for overseeing and growing Unitech's thriving training and simulation line of business, which has been involved in developing and providing Homeland Security-related training solutions for federal and state and local customers.

TUCON Construction Corporation of Dulles is building a 68,000 square foot build-to-suit distribution center in Chantilly for Ferguson, the nation’s largest plumbing supply distributor. The Chantilly distribution center is one of several hundred in the mid-Atlantic region operated by Virginia Beach-based Ferguson.

R. W. Murray Co. announces that several new employees have joined the company. The growth will allow the company greater flexibility in accepting new construction projects in the region. Jonathan's primary focus will be to facilitate the day to day field operations He graduated from Virginia Tech (2001, Building Construction) and is an active member of the Associated Builders and Contractors organization.

Leslie Henderson is one of the company's Assistant Project Managers. She is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech (2001, Business Information Technology) and brings four years of experience to R. W. Murray Co. Leslie hails from Williamsburg, Virginia and was previously with Henderson, Inc. a general contractor based in Williamsburg. She is an active member of the Virginia chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors organization.

Alex Gutenson comes to R.W. Murray as a Project Manager and was most recently with Ryan Homes in Charlotte, North Carolina. Alex is a graduate of Virginia Tech (1993, Building Construction) and is looking forward to working on new commercial projects. He will be responsible for the management of new design and build projects as well as tenant renovations.

Kasha Laiks joins the firm as the Director of Corporate Communications. She was most recently with Digital Commerce Corporation, a software development firm based in Herndon, and brings over five years of marketing and communications experience to the position. As a Washington, DC area native, Kasha is looking forward to play a part in changing the local landscape. She holds a B.A. from Virginia Tech and is a member of the American Marketing Association, National Association of Female Executives, and Business and Professional Women.
