<sh>Correction

<bt>An article in the March 20-26 edition of the Reston Connection, "Tennis Facility Bubbling Up," states, at one point, that Reston Association will fund construction of a future tennis bubble at South Lakes High School. This is incorrect. As stated earlier in the article, funding for the bubble will come entirely from donations.

<sh>Southgate Community Meetings

<bt>Follow-on community meetings to continue planning efforts for Southgate Neighborhood Center programs are planned for the evenings of Thursday, April 18 and Wednesday, May 1. The meeting on April 18 will take place at the existing Southgate Recreation Center, 12125 Pinecrest Rd. The May meeting will return to Dogwood Elementary at 12300 Glade Dr. The Community meetings are sponsored by the Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services, and the Reston Association.

Both Meetings will take place from will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Reston.

Individuals attending will play a key role in the program planning process, and in determining the programs and services that will serve the Southgate Community.

<sh>Reston Charrette on Rail to Dulles

<bt>Hunter Mill Supervisor Catherine Hudgins will be hosting a community planning workshop, entitled the Reston Charrette, to discuss the land development that will surround the proposed metro rail stations in Reston. The meetings will be held April 11, 12 and 13 at TRW, 12011 Sunset Hills Road, Reston. The entire community is invited to participate.

The first day of the charrette will conclude with a public forum at 7:30 p.m. The next two days organizers plan to work on community planning. On the third day, consultants will also present the results of the participants' work.

<sh>Robbery Attempt Warded Off

<bt>Fairfax County Police are investigating an attempted robbery and simple assault which occurred in the 2500 block of Centreville Road in the Herndon area at about 8:45 p.m. on Monday, April 1. A 16-year-old Reston boy was walking behind a shopping center when he was approached by two men who demanded money. The boy refused and the two men began to hit the boy. The boy fought with the men until they fled the area. The victim was not injured. One suspect is described as Hispanic, between 19 and 20-years-old, five feet, nine inches tall, weighing 160 pounds with black hair, wearing khaki pants, black t-shirt and a black leather jacket. The other suspect is described as Hispanic, between 17 and 18-years-old, five feet, six inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with black hair, wearing black jeans, a white t-shirt and Timberland boots. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.

<sh>Commission Seeks Public Input

<bt>The state Commission on the Future of Virginia's Environment will hold a public hearing on Monday, April 29, at 2 p.m., in the Senate Room A of the General Assembly Building in Richmond. The commission, which is charged with examining the status and funding of Virginia's natural resources/environmental programs, is asking the public to suggest natural resource/environmental issues that the Commission should examine as part of the work plan for the coming year. The Commission is composed of 10 members of the General Assembly, seven citizens and the secretary of natural resources. Those persons wishing to speak during this public hearing may register in advance by calling Patty Lung, Senate Clerk's Office, at 804-698-7450.
