The county is seeking applicants to fill three vacancies on the Victim Services Advisory Board. Two vacancies are for professional representatives from the mental health, legal, medical, dental and nursing professions. One partial term vacancy is for a member of the clergy. The Low Vision Support Group will meet on Tuesday, April 23 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 6125 Montrose Road in Rockville. The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council has announced a statewide outreach campaign to promote the Family New Works project. The program is designed to reach traditionally under-served state families that include a child or adult member with developmental disabilities. As an interactive resource, www.family-networks.org is designed to help families locate resources and support, network with others, keep current on issues and events and participate in online discussions with experts.

Volunteers are needed for Montgomery Hospice, 1450 Research Blvd. in Rockville, interested in working with terminally ill patients and their families, at home or in an inpatient setting. The Montgomery County Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program is recruiting volunteers to work with victims and their families. Volunteers will attend a training program and provide 24-hour crisis counseling and companion services to victims of rape and sexual assault in Montgomery County hospitals and police stations.
