<lst>Homeowners, and possibly those renting a house, will need to get connected to county utilities, including water, sewer and refuse/recycling collection. To set up an account, call 703-228-6570. Customer service is available at that number from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. If renting a house, have the name and address of your landlord available.

<ro>Virginia Vehicle Registration

<lst>Within 30 days of becoming a Virginia resident, owners must register vehicles with the state. The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Arlington branch is located at 4150 S. Four Mile Run Drive. It is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. At the office, residents may title their vehicle in Virginia, register for state license plates and apply for a Virginia driver's license. Don't forget the mandatory state vehicle inspection. Call 1-866-DMVLINE (368-5463), or 1-800-435-5137 or 800-272-9268 (TTY).

<ro>Arlington Vehicle Registration

<lst>Once the DMV registration is complete, your vehicle must be registered in Arlington County. County registration must occur within 30 days of moving to Arlington or immediately on display of permanent Virginia state tags. Take the state registration papers to the Office of the Commissioner of Revenue, 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Suite 218, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on weekdays, to register with the county. Bring $24 for a county windshield decal. Automatic registration on the county's personal-property tax rolls comes with this registration. <lst>As a new Virginia resident, you must register to vote in the state. If you moved to Arlington from another Virginia jurisdiction, it is necessary to transfer your voter registration to Arlington County. Call 703-228-3456, the Office of Voter Registration, and they will mail an application to your home. Or, visit their office at 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Suite 320, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays. Other registration locations include the Department of Motor Vehicles, where residents can register to vote while registering a vehicle. Forms are in Arlington Public Libraries and Arlington Public Schools. To vote, be sure to register before Tuesday, Oct. 10, for the primary or general elections and at least 14 days prior to a special election.
