Herndon High School freshman and new student orientation will take place Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 9-10:30 a.m. This program is designed to ease the transition and welcome students to the Herndon High School family. During an assembly in the auditorium, students will be introduced to the administrative team, counselors and student leaders. Immediately following the assembly, students will follow their schedules to locate assigned classes. For students who need transportation, refer to the schedule listed below. Route 1: 8:45 a.m. at Herndon Middle. Route 2: 8:45 a.m. at Clearview Elementary. Route 3: 8:35 a.m. at Hutchison Elementary. Route 4: 8:45 a.m. at Herndon Elementary. Route 5: 8:30 a.m. at Armstrong Elementary. Route 6: 8:45 a.m. at Dranesville Elementary. Route 7: 8:35 a.m. at Aldrin Elementary. Buses are scheduled to leave Herndon High School at 10:40 a.m. to return to the stops listed above.
Mount Woodland Children's House offers a Montessori-based program located in Franklin Farm. This warm, rich environment encourages children to develop a love of learning while fostering a positive self-image and satisfying peer relationships. Instruction is offered in reading, math, science, geography, Spanish, art, music and more. Ages 3-6. The director is Kathleen Logan, RN. For more information, call 703-391-7428.
Herndon High School schedules and back-to-school packets will not be mailed this year, but can be picked up from the cafeteria Aug. 27-29, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 28 only. Freshman students may pick up packets at orientation. A note signed by the student or the student's parent is required for a friend who is picking up a packet.
