Ames Prepares to Close Their Doors

August 29, 2002

Another part of the American retail picture will soon be history as all locations of Ames Department Stores close their doors for good.

Shoppers can take advantage of the bargains at the Ames Department Store on Richmond Highway for the next few weeks.

All items are currently discounted 10-20 percent with discounts in certain departments as much as 70 percent.

Manager Tim Ritter said that they’ve been pretty busy. When asked what will happen to the employees, he said that he wasn’t sure, but that some employees were already looking for other jobs.

Ames cash cards will be accepted throughout the liquidation process, but checks will not. All sales are final and layaways must be picked up by September 1.
