The following incidents were reported to the McLean District of the Fairfax County Police Department:
BIAS CRIME
Fairfax County Police are investigating a bias crime that occurred close to the intersection of Pine Hill Road and Baron Road, in the McLean area, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday. While on patrol, an officer was flagged down by a resident who pointed out that anti-Semitic remarks had been written in black marker on the pavement. Upon checking the sidewalk, the officer found that someone had poured bleach on the area, in an apparent attempt to remove the graffiti, and the words were blurred and barely decipherable. A similar incident occurred on July 31, in the same vicinity. Anyone with information about this incident or the people involved is asked to call police at 703-691-2131. The Fairfax County Police Department recognizes the potential harm that bias crimes and incidents can have in a community, and consequently encourages people to report them. All bias crimes and incidents are investigated thoroughly.
ROBBERY
Dolly Madison Boulevard 1300 block - Two armed men who were wearing masks walked into the Cardinal Bank branch and demanded money from a teller. The victim relinquished an undisclosed amount of cash and the pair ran away. The suspects are believed to be the same men who attempted to enter the Wachovia Bank branch, located at 3050 Chain Bridge Road #105, in the Oakton area just moments earlier and attempted to rob that bank. Their efforts were thwarted when they found the doors locked.
