Springfield Fatalities Alarm Neighbors

A house in the 7300 block of Sterling Grove Drive in Springfield was the scene of a murder-suicide late Friday, Dec. 13. According to police, a citizen called police after she arrived at a co-worker’s house and saw a body lying on the floor. Police and rescue personnel arrived and found two deceased persons, who were later identified as Jose Febo, 30, and his father, Manuel Febo, 57. Investigation revealed that the younger Febo shot his father and then turned the gun on himself. Both died in the home, and the next of kin has been notified.

Neighbors on the street were silent on the matter and shocked that it happened in their quiet neighborhood off the Springfield-Franconia Parkway. The next-door neighbor was too distraught to comment about the fatalities. One resident a few doors up has lived there for 20 years and has only seen police about parking on the street.

"They asked me to move my boat, but that's about it" he said.

Another neighbor was not home that night but his mother was talking about it the next day.

"I heard something about it," he said.
