<bt> The Reston Association has found abandoned boats. A ten-foot sailboat, two canoes and a sailboard were found in Lake Anne as well as two canoes in Lake Thoreau. <bt>The Reston Community Center's Youth Department seeks part-time camp counselors to work at Camp Reston Goodtimes. Camp Reston Goodtimes is an eight-week summer day camp for children ages 6-11. The camps will take place at Reston elementary school from June 24 to Aug. 16. <bt>The Herndon Rotary Club is accepting applications for their annual scholarship programs, which offer one $6,000 four-year college scholarship ($1,500 per year) and one $2,000 two-year college or vocational scholarship ($1,000 per year). Applicants must be graduating seniors at Herndon High School or any high school senior residing within the Town of Herndon. Applicants will be judged on the basis of citizenship, extra curricular activities, two essays, letters of recommendation, and scholarship. Deadline for submission is May 3. <bt>Celebrate Women's History Month by looking at the Impact of Women in Political Office with the League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area at its March meetings. Guests are welcome to participate in the study and discussion of the impact of women's participation in political life at all governmental levels.

The League will meet at 15 locations throughout the Fairfax area during the second week of each March, including the Mason District Government Center at 9:30 a.m. on March 12, the Reston Museum at Lake Anne's Washington Plaza at 7:30 p.m. on March 13, and the Beacon Street Restaurant at 13041 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway in Fairfax at 6:45 p.m. on March 14. <bt>For the fourth year, the Virginia Legends Walk is asking the general public to nominate great Virginians past and present. So far, 26 Virginia Legends have been chosen, including Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Robert E. Lee, Pearl Bailey, Arthur Ashe, Patsy Cline and Alan B. Shepard.

A statewide panel of 570 judges made up of university presidents, heads of museums and historical societies, librarians and members of the media choose from potential Legend candidates. Qualified candidates must have been born in Virginia or lived in the Commonwealth when they made their most notable achievements. Those achievements must be of worldwide or national significance.

Last year's candidates included William H. Harrison, Tom Wolfe, Secretariat, William Styron, Ruth Brown, Steve Case, Douglas Wilder, Katie Couric, Robert Duval and Bruce Hornsby.

A candidate who is picked to be a Virginia Legend will have his or her name added to a permanent exhibit in Virginia Beach.
