With the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and U.S. Capitol glowing in the soft June night behind them, juniors and seniors at McLean High School celebrated their prom at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington on Saturday.
The entire club was their domain. When they got hot and tired of dancing, couples could take their bottled water — seemingly the beverage of choice this year — to the rooftop and admire the Washington skyline.
Just before midnight, the traditional “Senior Superlatives” were announced.
Each of those honored by their classmates with a title to emphasize their distinctive characteristics was draped with a sash. The girls also received long-stemmed roses.
Prom King was Cheickna Schmitz, who was also voted to have the “Best Smile.” Kate Haffey was prom queen, also voted “Best to Take Home to Parents.”
