Centreville Presbyterian Church Summer Schedule

* Youth Group — Wild and Outrageous Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., all summer. Youth and parent summer party, June 19.

* Sunday School End-of-School Party, June 30 at 10 a.m.

* Vacation Bible School (VBS), "Son Canyon River Adventure", registration closes on June 30 for VBS, July 8-12. For children in grades 3-6. No Cost. Register by June 30.

* Summer Adult Sunday School — begins July 7. Christian look at "Current Events" and "Pursuit of Holiness."

* All-American Sunday in the Park — E.C. Lawrence Park Amphitheater, Walney Road, next to Visitor's Center, July 7, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Patriotic music sing-a-long, guest performers, Kiddie Parade, apple pie and ice cream. Held at CPC if rain.

* Senior high youth group mission trip to White Mountain Apache Reservation, Arizona, to build church and teach VBS, July 19-27.

* Preschool Story Time, Aug. 5, 12, 19, and 26, 10-11 a.m. at CPC playground.

* The Great Escape. Rising 7th-9th graders will join hundreds of other youths at DeSales University, Pa., for music, speakers, huge group games and white-water rafting. Cost: $269.

* Celebrate America! Lively Arts Week, Aug. 5-9, from 9 a.m.-12 noon. First- through sixth-graders will learn upbeat music, dance and drama, culminating in patriotic musical performance on Aug. 9, 7:30 p.m. Cost: $25. Register by July 29.

* Planet 56 Adventure Week, Aug. 12-16, from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Rising 5th-7th graders will venture out on exciting field trips. Cost: $80, for transportation, events admissions, and food. Register by Aug. 5.

* Sunday Seminars, 6-9 p.m. "Bible for Dummies", Aug. 11. "Stress Busters," Aug. 18. "Are Miracles Really Possible?" Aug. 25.

Christ the Redeemer Episcopal Church will be restocking Western Fairfax Christian Ministries' Shepherd Center Food Pantry and Clothes Closet on Saturday, June 29. All during the month of June, Christ the Redeemer has been collecting a variety of food, paper products, baby and household items for WFCM's Food Pantry. Collected items will be sorted and loaded into trucks and vans at the church offices on Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. and then taken over to the Shepherd Center were youth and adult volunteers from Christ the Redeemer will help restock the pantry's shelves.

The Shepherd Center Food Pantry, located in Chantilly, provides donated food to families or individuals once a month. They are open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Western Fairfax Christian Ministries provides emergency help for persons living in the Centreville, Chantilly, Clifton, Fairfax Station and Fairfax areas.

Chantilly Bible Church invites all children in Kindergarten through third grade to join in Vacation Bible School, July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The theme for this year is SonCanyon River Adventure. Children will have a great adventure singing, watching skits, creating crafts and playing games all with an exciting river-rafting theme. They'll learn survival skills for living from the book of Proverbs. Registration is free. Call 703-689-3330. Chantilly Bible Church is located at 2739 West Ox Road, Oak Hill, adjacent to Frying Pan Park.

St. John's Episcopal Church will hold music camp July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to noon daily. Cost is $20 (scholarships available). Recommended age is rising third-graders through junior/senior high. The theme is "David and the Giants," the story of David and his fight with the giant Goliath. Campers will participate in encore performances on Sunday, July 14 at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Temple Beth Torah is a Reform Jewish congregation and member of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations (UAHC) that meets at St. John's Episcopal Church in Centreville. The congregation offers the Northern Virginia Jewish community services that provide numerous spiritual, educational, support and social opportunities including religious school for member children age 3 through Bar/Bat Mitzvah and confirmation. * Religious School — Diane Zimmerman is the Education Director for the new school year. Diane has more than 14 years of religious school education teaching and leadership. St. Andrew Lutheran Church will change its worship schedule beginning on June 23. Congregation Yad Shalom is a conservative synagogue located in Centreville. It provides a traditional service with a progressive format to enhance a Jewish lifestyle.

Ox Hill Baptist Church will be holding its Vacation Bible School on July 22-26 from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vacation Bible School is for children ages 4 years (by June 30, 2002) through sixth grade. Centreville Baptist Church's MOPS — a program for Mothers of Pre-Schoolers — runs during the school year. Body & Soul Aerobics and Strength Training is a fun fitness program choreographed to today's Christian music and it offers great fellowship with other women.
