Marine Corps Pfc. Vieu D. Nguyen, son of Diep T. and Khai T. Doan of Fairfax, recently graduated from the Intermediate Communications Signals Analysis Course while assigned to Naval Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Fla. Nguyen is a 2001 graduate of Oakton High School in Vienna and joined the Marine Corps in August 2001.

Marine Corps Reserve Pfc. Kyle D. Conley, son of Stephanie F. and Eugene Conley of 922 Douglas Drive in McLean, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C., and was promoted to his current rank.

Marine Corps Pvt. Marykatherine E. Costa, a 1996 graduate of Langley High School, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C.

The U.S. Navy announced that PN2(SW) Cynthia Seitz, a member of the Dyer Gunnell Post 180 stationed in the Middle East, was named Sailor of the Year for her Command.

Navy Ensign Constance L. Danner, daughter of Pamela B. and David L. Danner of McLean, is halfway through a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf, where she joins 10,000 Atlantic Fleet sailors and Marines aboard the ships of the USS John F. Kennedy Carrier Battle Group and USS Wasp Amphibious Ready Group. Danner, assigned to the guided missile destroyer USS Spruance based in Mayport, Fla., is a 1996 graduate of Langley High School of McLean. After graduating from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., with a bachelor of science degree, she joined the Navy in May 2000.

Army Pvt. Michael D. Wilkerson, son of James and stepson of Sue Wilkerson of South Riding, Va., has graduated from the light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced individual training course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Wilkerson is a 2001 graduate of Cedar Lane High School in Vienna.

Navy Ensign William T. Carson, son of Carmen and James Carson of McLean was promoted to his present rank after completing the Basic Naval Flight Officer Program at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL.
