First Baptist Church of Springfield will hold its Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, March 31, at 7 a.m., at the new pavilion at Lake Accotink Park. Word of Life Christian Academy will host a community open house for fall enrollemnt on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., for grades preschool-12. Immanuel Bible Church will be holding its semiannual clothing orchard on April 6, at 8 a.m. Used clothing and household items will be given away free to the public. All are welcome. The Dillon Fellowship Hall Springfield Christian Church invites everyone for a meal of bread, fruit and cheese to celebrate Jesus' final meal, on March 28 at 6:30 p.m., in Dillon Fellowship Hall. Bring bread, fruit and cheese to share with everybody around the table. Sunrise Service on Easter Day at 7 a.m. Later breakfast and snacks will be offered in the Fellowship Hall. The Easter Day Worship Service in the Sanctuary will be held at 10 a.m. It includes special music, banners and flowers, eternal Spirit and power of the Living God. The Accotink Unitarian-Universalist Church is sponsoring monthly day trips to Washington, D.C. On Thursday, April 18, the trip will include the U.S. National Arboretum (with a tram ride of 443 acres) and docent-led tours of the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the Franciscan Monastery. The motor coach departs from and returns to the Huntsman Square Shopping Mall off the Fairfax County Parkway (9 a.m.-5 p.m.). The trip costs $23 per person and is open to the community. On Saturday, March 30, from 2-4 p.m., Parkwood Baptist Church will hold its third annual Easter Eggstravaganza for families with children from preschool through grade six. This free event features games, cookie decorating, crafts, free food, story time, door prizes and an egg hunt for younger children and a treasure hunt for older children. The Jewish Council for the Aging (JCA) announces its second annual Seders for Seniors project. The JCA program makes it possible for seniors to attend a communal Seder at a synagogue or community center close to their homes. Transportation to and from the Seder will be arranged by the JCA Connect-A-Ride program. T.O.T. Preschool, a ministry of Sydenstricker United Methodist Church, 8508 Hooes Road, Springfield, will begin its 15th year of operation in September. The Celebration Singers, a costumed and choreographed, all-volunteer women's show chorus, invites singers to join them. The group sings a variety of music in three voice ranges - soprano, second soprano and alto. They rehearse on Wednesdays during the day alternating between Heritage Hunt in Gainesville and the Springfield United Methodist Church. Each Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel, Messiah United Methodist Church, located at 6215 Rolling Road, Springfield, holds a prayer service. This is a service that Messiah started in January.
