The Herndon Dulles Business and Professional Women are accepting applicants for scholarships to be awarded to two adult women returning to school in the fall 2002 to complete their education. The Kay Picket Scholarship is designated to assist a medical/nursing student, and the Elaine Clark scholarship is available for any field of study. Homeless pets at Fancy Cats Rescue Team in Herndon, the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, and the Humane Society of Fairfax County Inc. can now find homes with the help of Petfinder.com. Potential adopters can visit the website, enter their zip code and find a list of what pets are available for adoption in their area.
The Herndon Parks and Recreation Department has begun registration for its summer camps. The camps that are being offered are Preschool Play Camp for ages 3-5, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1-3:30 p.m.; Summer Fun for ages 6-11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended care available; and Teen Discovery for ages 12-15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All camps take place at the Herndon Community Center and meet Monday-Friday.
