Man Charged in Stabbing

Alexandria police have charged James E. Brundage with malicious wounding in an incident that occurred on Old Dominion Boulevard.

Brundage is charged with stabbing a 47-year-old Alexandria woman as she worked in her front yard in the 3300 block of Old Dominion Blvd. around 8:15 p.m. on May 1. None of her wounds were life threatening.

"It was a robbery gone bad," said Amy Bertsch, a spokesperson for the Alexandria Police Department. "He demanded money, she refused and he stabbed her."

After the man began stabbing her, the victim ran into her house. Brundage allegedly followed her, took her purse and ran. Police apprehended him on May 4, at the home of an acquaintance who lives in Alexandria.

Brundage is being held at the Alexandria jail without bond. He is a suspect in two other burglaries that occurred in the same neighborhood — one on Kentucky Ave. on April 30, the other on Cameron Mills Road on April 19.
