Mercy Dedicates New Church

Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington, came to Potomac last week to preside at the dedication of Our Lady of Mercy’s new church.

The church, now seating 750, will serve the 1,500 member families. Hundreds of parishioners attended the dedication.

During the dedication, the architect, Dennis DeLizzio, presented McCarrick with the church plans while the parish representative, Kenneth Auberger, presented a church rendering and dedication book and the builder, Roy Kirby, presented the cardinal with the keys to the front doors of the church.

McCarrick turned and offered the keys to the new church doors to Monsignor John J. Enzler, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic, and known to parishioners as Father John. Enzler opened the doors to make way for the procession.

The public is invited to an open house on May 18th. Tours by the DeLizzio architectural firm will be given the day of the open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The church is located at 9200 Kentsdale Drive in Potomac. Call 301-365-1415 or see www.olom.org.
