Hundreds Attend Aging Expo

State Senator Patsy Ticer's fourth Successful Aging Expo continued it's tradition of emphazing the postive aspects of getting older. More than 200 Alexandrians convened at the Holiday Inn on May 9, to participate in a full day of workshops, speakers and entertainment.

Attendees had a variety of workshops at their disposal. Experts talked to small groups about methods of enhancing creativity, managing stress, maintaining memory, and increasing strength and energy Travel experts enticed with tales of sensational trips. Massage therapists gave unlimited neck and shoulder massages.

DR. BELLE WHELAN, Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth, jumpstarted the Expo with an inspiration talk emphasing the value of life long learning. Washington Post columnist Stan Hinden, assisted by his wife Sara, shared his practical insight into enjoying retirement. Dr. Richad Lindsay, Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicene at the University of Virginia, discussed what it means to be old in twenty-first century.
