Firefighter Faces Felony Counts

Ralph T. Rohrer, a 21-year veteran of the Alexandria Fire Department, has been arrested and charged with two felony counts of obtaining money under false pretenses and forging overtime records.

The charges stem from a review of fire department records conducted in early spring and revealing discrepancies in Rohrer’s time records. When the internal investigation uncovered the apparent criminal wrongdoing, the matter was referred to the commonwealth’s attorney.

After the review, police obtained two felony warrants based on Rohrer’s March 15, submission of inaccurate time records. He turned himself in to police and was released on $1000 bond. He will appear in Alexandria Court for a preliminary hearing on June 28.

Rohrer was hired in February, 1981, as a firefighter. He has served as a battalion chief since 1995.
