Stabbing Suspect Held Without Bond

An Alexandria judge found probable cause to send a charge of malicious wounding against James E. Brundage to next month’s grand jury.

The only witness against Brundage was a 47-year-old Alexandria woman. She testified before an Alexandria General District Court judge on May 17, that on May 1, Brundage stabbed her while she was in the front yard of her home on Old Dominion Blvd. The victim said the attacker followed her into her home and stole her purse.

The judge listened to her testimony and ordered Brundage held without bond pending the outcome of the grand jury, who will meet on June 3, to consider the malicious wounding charge and possibly others.

“The investigation is ongoing and Mr. Brundage could face other charges,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney S. Randolph Sengel.

Police said that Brundage is also a suspect in two burglaries in the same neighborhood in which the stabbing and robbery occurred. One burglary happened on Kentucky Ave. on April 30, and the other on Cameron Mills Road on April 19.
