Broadway star Donna McKechnie paid a visit to the cast and production team of The Musical Theater Center in Rockville. McKechnie, in town performing her cabaret act, won the Tony Award for “A Chorus Line.” Students at the Center will perform the musical at F. YouTHeater, presented by Potomac Theatre Company, is offering a three week, 5-day-a-week session for young actors, singers and dancers ages 8-12. "Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr." will provide an opportunity for young people interested in theater to learn from professionals over the summer vacation, from June 24-July 12. The F. Scott Fitzgerald Student Short Story Contest is seeking entries from county high school students. Entries must be postmarked no later than July 12. First prize is $250 and three runners up will receive $100 each. There is no entry fee. Winners will receive their awards on Oct. 26 at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Conference. The Montgomery County Black Police Officers Foundation will host a Scholarship Golf Tournament at the Hampshire Greens Gold Course in Silver Spring on June 17. Proceeds of the tournament will go toward college scholarships for minority and disadvantaged high school seniors who lack funding to attend college. Tournament sponsors are needed.
