Coast Guard Seaman Christopher A. Berger, son of Rosemary I. and Gene A. Berger of Vienna, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, NJ, and was promoted to his current rank. He is a 2001 graduate of McLean High School.

Alexander H. Wright has enlisted in the U.S. Army as a medium helicopter repairer and recently left for Individual (skill) training at Fort Stewart, Ga. He is a 1986 graduate of McLean High School.

Navy Lt. J.G. Lucy J. Erickson, daughter of Patricia A. Gmitter of Vienna and Harold J. Erickson of Falls Church, is currently on a six-month deployment to the Caribbean Sea while assigned to the USS Yorktown, homeported in Pascagoula, Miss. She is a 1995 graduate of Marshall High School and joined the Navy in May 1999.

Navy Cmdr. David B. Adler, a 1978 graduate of Langley High School, recently returned from a five-month deployment to the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific while assigned to the guided missile frigate USS Doyle, homeported in Mayport, Fla.

Cadet Jonathan "Scott" Porter has made the 2003 Summerall Guards, an elite silent drill platoon at The Citadel. Their first performance was March 16, during Corps Day Weekend. A business major, Porter is the son of Thomas and Carol Porter of Vienna.

Army Pvt. Robert M. Dupalo has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Robert and Motoko Dupalo of Vienna.

Marine Corps Pfc. Henri A. Bielawski, a 2000 graduate of James Madison High School, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. and was meritoriously promoted to his current rank.

Marine Corps Capt. Carlton W. Hasle recently reported for duty with Marine Aviation Detachment, Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Md.

Marine Corps Pvt. Brandon T. Welsh, son of Mary S. Welsh of Vienna, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, SC.

Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Alexander T. Norman, son of Margo M. Thorning of McLean, was recently meritoriously promoted to his current rank while serving aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk, home ported in Key West, Fla.
