Some Hot Topics at Sully Land-Use, Traffic Meeting

The Sully District Council of Citizens Associations Land-Use and Transportation Committee will meet Monday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Supervisor Michael R. Frey's (R-Sully) conference room. It's in the Fort Hill Building, 5900 Centreville Road in Centreville. Call Jeff Parnes, 703-904-0131, evenings. Agenda items include:

* A proposal by McDonald's to replace its inline store at the Sully Station II Shopping Center with a free-standing, drive-through restaurant. It would go on a self-contained parcel to the right of the shopping center, on Stone Road in Centreville. McDonald's needs a zoning approval from the county because of the drive-through window.

However, the plan has so far met with heated opposition from local residents who contend that the new restaurant's lighting, noise, traffic, trash and hours of operation would adversely affect both the neighborhood and the shopping center, itself.

* Inova Fair Oaks Hospital wants to amend its proffers, and attorney Tim Sampson will present details.

* Pulte Home Corp. is applying for state and federal permits to discharge fill material into Bull Run from its Cedar Crest residential development, just west of Fairfax National Estates in Centreville. The Army Corps of Engineers is soliciting citizen comments about this idea.
