The Woodson football team eked out a 7-2 victory over Madison in a low-scoring game on Saturday night. The game had been originally scheduled for Friday, but the inclement
weather and sloppy field conditions forced a postponement.
The golf team has also done well, taking three out of the top four places at the Districts Tournament and qualifying for the Regional Tournament at Brambelton on Monday and Tuesday. Leading Woodson was Richard Snead in second place.
The field hockey team beat Langley in a 2-0 match, with goals scored by Colleen Cowley and Kathleen Barry. The girls cross-country team also beat Langley, along with Madison, in their meet this week. They were led by Kate Griendling and Jenica Semler.
Woodson's Athletic Boosters wants to inform past and future volunteers that many companies reward employees who volunteer for school projects by donating money on behalf of non-profit organizations. Those interested in making a donation are asked to check with their employer to discover potential charitable opportunities that could benefit the Woodson Athletic Booster program.
The orchestra is hosting a car wash, a rummage sale, and a bake sale all on Oct. 5 at Woodson. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., orchestra members will be washing cars by donation, putting up various items for sale and selling home-baked goods. Items can be donated for the rummage sale. Drop off items at the orchestra entrance to Woodson Oct. 4 between 6 and 8 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the orchestra.
