Student Registration in South County

<bt>Fairfax County Public Schools superintendent Daniel Domenech will formally open the school system's third student registration office at the South County Government Center, Monday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m.

The Office of Student Registration enrolls all non-English-speaking and foreign students into the school system. The office tests and evaluates students to ensure they are placed at the correct grade level and in the proper instructional environments. The office also provides interpreters, translators, information about the school system and county resources, and other assistance.

The other student registration offices are located at the Devonshire Center in Falls Church and the Neighborhood Resource Center in Herndon. The new office is located at 8350 Richmond Highway in Alexandria. It will be open Monday-Friday, from 7:45 a.m.-4:15 p.m. The phone number is 703-704-6017.

<sh>ACE Approved for Training Programs

<bt>The Fairfax County Public Schools Office of Adult and Community Education (ACE), a certified provider of education and training to veterans, recently received approval from the Department of Veterans Affairs to offer four additional career-training programs: A-plus certification, legal office assistant, loan processor/officer achievement program, and Microsoft certified systems administrator preparation program. The approval allows veterans to use their GI Bill benefits for ACE classes and brings the number of ACE-approved courses to 35.
