Drama Club Encourages Participation

Bishop Ireton Theater is starting off its season with the drama "The Diary of Anne Frank." Rehearsals began this week as Bishop Ireton students are designing the sets and lights, gathering the props, and making the costumes for this opening production. Performances are Nov. 15, 16, 17, 22, and 23. Following this presentation will be the musical "The King and I" on March 28, 29, 30, April 4, and 5, 2003. We're looking forward to another strong turnout for auditions. Last year's production of "Barnum" had a record number of students involved. The Bishop Ireton theater season will close on May 2 and 3, 2003 with one-act plays that will be produced and directed by students. For the past few years, these one-act plays have also been designed by the students. Usually, the students who produce, direct, and design the one-act plays are members of the advanced theater production class. This enables them to have a hands-on experience on the production side. Often, the Drama Club president or another member of the Drama Club will also direct a one-act. All of the productions have student stage managers, board operators, and running crews. The casts include students from all grade levels of varying experience, and auditions are open to all Bishop Ireton students. There are many opportunities for students to participate in theater at Bishop Ireton High School.
