'Room Service' Opens at Alden

‘Room Service’ Arrives at Alden

“Room Service,” the McLean Theatre Alliance’s (MTA) fall play, opens Friday, Sept. 27 at the Alden Theatre for three weekends on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

In addition to McLean actors Fredric Ashley, David Kahn and Jerry Morse, the play features presidential sister-in-law Margaret Bush of Alexandria, whose husband Marvin is George W. Bush’s brother.

The play, a comedy that first opened on Broadway in 1937, was later made into a Marx Brothers movie and a musical called “Step Lively” that starred Frank Sinatra.

The MTA uses the original script.

“It’s slapstick. It’s a farce,” said co-producer Lanier Glavin. “You never know what’s going to happen next.”

The Kahn family has three members involved in the play: Susan Kahn as artistic director, Sarah Kahn as co-producer, and David Kahn as the Russian waiter, Sasha.

The McLean Theater Alliance’s next production, “Music Man,” opens April 25.

Tickets for “Room Service” are available for $12 at the McLean Community Center box office. Call 703-790-9223 or 202-432-7328.

Performances will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27; Saturday, Sept. 28, and Oct. 4, 5, 11, and 12. Matinees are scheduled at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 and Oct. 6.
