River Road in Potomac, near Congressional Country Club, was closed in both directions through the morning rush hour last Friday, after a head on collision in which one woman died.
Eunice Karanja, 26, of Aspen Hill, was killed on April 4 when the 1990 Nissan Sentra she was driving crossed the centerline on River Road and collided with an oncoming 2003 Toyota Tundra. Police say that they do not know at this time why she crossed the centerline. The accident is still under investigation by the county’s collision reconstruction section.
The accident occurred at 6:35 a.m. The driver of the truck, Gloria Bonilla, 53 of Hyattsville was also transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident closed River Road from Seven Locks Road to Bradley Boulevard from the time the accident occured until 11:07 a.m.
