Erica L. Simpson of Springfield was on the dean’s list at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg for fall 2002. She maintained a 3.5 grade point average.

Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg named Aisha R. Thompson of Springfield to its dean’s list for fall 2002. Thompson is a senior and maintained a 3.5 grade point average.

Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg included Rachelle C. Chretien of Springfield on its dean’s list for fall 2002. Chretien maintained a 3.5 grade point average.

Lisa Matthes, Kristopher Range and Heather Cable, all of Springfield, have been selected as part of Syracuse University’s Senior Scholarship Program for the 2002-03 academic year. The program recognizes outstanding students in their final year at the University who have consistently attained dean’s list status during their first three years of study.

Laura Hodulich of Springfield has been named to the dean's list at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, N.J. She is a 2002 graduate of Robinson Secondary School.

Cadet Andrew Lee Brooks of Springfield was named to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester at the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. To achieve this list, a student must earn at least a 3.2 grade point average with no grade below a C for the previous semester's work. Additionally, Brooks earned a Gold Star for achieving a 3.7 grade point average. Gold Stars are worn on the collar. Brooks graduated from West Springfield High School in 2002.

Jonathan Butterfield of Springfield has been designated as one of Sen. George Allen's nominees to the U.S. Naval Academy. Butterfield is a student at West Springfield High School. He is a member of the crew team and an Eagle Scout.

Laura Stanko, a student at Westfield High School, has been designated as one of Sen. George Allen's nominees to the U.S. Naval Academy. She is a member of the forensics and gymnastics teams.
