Da Vinci's Notebook to perform at Westfield.

Da Vinci’s Notebook, the a cappella musical comedy group, will appear at Westfield High School on Friday, April 4, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and proceeds support the school’s theatre arts program. The event is sponsored by Westfield Theatre Boosters. This is the third year the organization has brought Da Vinci’s Notebook to the Westfield stage.

Their songwriting style is often compared to that of parody songwriter Weird Al Yankovich. The quartet blends their voices in harmonic and lively doo-wop melodies.

The origins of Da Vinci’s Notebook date back to 1993 when a classified ad in the Washington City Paper brought together a six-man doo-wop group. A few membership and name changes later, Da Vinci’s Notebook won first place at the 1996 Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes. Appearances on national television shows like NBC’s “Today Show” followed and the group now plays all over the United States. The group was awarded the 2002 Washington Area Music Association awards for best a cappella group and best a cappella recording.

Westfield’s own Rockin’ Teacher Band will open for Da Vinci’s Notebook. The band features high school teachers Michael Viega on lead guitar, Scott Pafumi on rhythm guitar, Bill Goldsmith on bass and Scott Bergquist on percussion. Don’t miss their signature song, “You Ain’t Nothing But a Bulldog.”

Westfield High School is located at 4700 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly. For tickets and directions, call the Westfield Theatre Box Office at 703-488-6430.
