New Programs at Wayside

Wayside's Principal Suzette Chagnon spoke about the upcoming school year.

What do you wish parents would do more of?

“Our parents are very involved in their children’s education. I hope that they would continue to be actively involved in their children’s education and help them get everything they need to actively support the teachers.”

What do you wish parents would do less of?

“If parents have questions about what happened at school, before they start information rolling that may or may not be accurate, please check with the principal or assistant principal.”

What will be the biggest challenge at Wayside this year?

“This year there is a challenge integrating a special education program which we did not have before. But it’s an exciting challenge to allow us to develop our understanding of people that have special needs.”

What is your favorite thing about Wayside?

“The students at Wayside come to school ready to learn. Having a strong staff that knows how to meet the needs of the students. Parental support is phenomenal.

Anything I ask of them [parents, students and staff] they will rise to the occasion.”

What changes will are there from last year to this year?

“The whole recess and lunch configuration will be slightly different. The addition of a new playground will be wonderful. The full implementation of the county’s new math curriculum and the new third grade reading curriculum.”
