Shanely Earns Eagle Award

<bt>Bryan P. Schanely of Reservation Drive in Springfield achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor on Dec. 22, 2002. The ceremony and reception took place at the Oaks Community Center in Burke Centre. Eagle Scout 1st Lt. Rob Lingler, USMC; Scoutmaster John Rensbarger, Lou Possanza, Eagle Scout Michael Possanza and Capt. Bo Norton, USN. Ret., officiated at the ceremony. An American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol was presented by Norton to honor the occasion.

Schanely is a member of Troop 1345 in Burke. His Eagle Scout project was to plan, build and erect a kiosk at Lake Accotink Park.

Schanely graduated from West Springfield High School in June 2002 and is currently a freshman in the school of engineering at Virginia Tech.
