Alexandria police arrested Samuel Colon, a 42-year-old Washington, D.C., man, for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy. Colon was working as an ESL teacher at Francis Hammond Middle School in Alexandria when the incident occurred. The victim was one of Colon's students.
Detectives began investigating this case on January 13, after Child Protective Services received a report of possible abuse. The investigation revealed that the assault occurred between September 9, 2002, and January 8, 2003, at the school. Colon was first taken into custody by Metropolitan police at his home in the District on January 18. He was charged by Alexandria police Wednesday with aggravated sexual battery. He is being held without bond at the Alexandria jail.
