Bowling, Baseball Bats and a Brawl

A 34-year-old man was treated for bruises sustained from a beating by four men with baseball bats outside a bowling alley June 29. His injuries were not life-threatening, but the assailants were arrested for assault.

Alexandria police said that they were called to the 2200 block of North Van Dorn Street at approximately 9 p.m. and found one adult victim and four suspects engaged in a fight.

The suspects were detained and the victim was taken to Alexandria Hospital for treatment.

Police reported that the victim and the suspects began their verbal fight inside the bowling alley and then exited the building where they began to fight. During the assault, the victim fell to the ground and the suspects began to stomp him with their feet.

The adult suspect, Manalebih Gigna Fanta, a 22-year-old male and resident of 431 South Columbus Street, apartment 203, was charged with felonious assault. Two of the three juveniles were charged with assault and battery and transported to the Juvenile Detention Facility. The remaining juvenile was not charged and released to the custody of relatives. The investigation by detectives continues.

Two Stabbings Reported

Police are investigating two stabbings in the city. In one incident, police said a 26-year-old male city resident was stabbed in the abdomen during an altercation in the 900 block of North Alfred Steet on June 28, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Police said two men were fighting and the victim intervened to assist. While doing so, the suspect stabbed the victime and then fled from the scene.

The victim was transported by helicopter to the Washington Hospital Center where he underwent treatment for his injuries.

The suspect is a 27-year-old black male.

IN THE OTHER stabbing incident, police said a man was stabbed as a result of a domestic dispute.

Police were called to the 300 block of East Clifford Street on June 22, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Police said the victim, a 20-year-old male city resident, intervened in the dispute and was stabbed in the abdomen by the suspect, Walter Edward White, Jr., a 33-year-old male and resident of 320 East Clifford St.

Police took the suspect to police headquarters where he was arrested and charged with felonious assault.

The victim underwent surgery at the Washington Hospital Center and is in stable condition.
