Pohick Creek Gets a Cleaning

Twenty-four volunteers participated in the Pohick Creek Clean-up on June 12 in Lorton. The volunteers included 15 youngsters from the Lorton Community Resource Center Youth Activities Group led by Tommy Cajanding.

Volunteers from the Williamsburg Square Community; Noman M. Cole, Jr. Pollution Control Plant; and Mason Neck Lions Club also participated in partnership with the Lorton community in this environmental project. The Mason Neck Lions Club provided logistical support and refreshments.

Fourteen bags of litter (bottles, cans, plastic bags, styrofoam cups, etc.) were collected along the banks of the creek. The trash was taken for disposal at the Fairfax County landfill.
