William Francis Smith talks with well-wishers after donating his photographs to the Alexandria Library's Local History/Special Collection Division. Smith formally presented his historic collection on June 11, more than 1,500 historic photographs, to the Kate Barrett Branch on Queen Street in Old Town. Some of the photos appear in the book he co-authored, Seaport Saga: Portrait of Old Alexandria. Local History/Special Collections division is open Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m.-9p.m.; Friday 9 a.m-6 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m.-5p.m.
