Technology Vending Partnership

<bt>Fairfax County Public Schools, Insystech Inc., Information Corporation, and Crystal Decisions Inc., all technology vendors, have teamed up to market the school system's Education Decision Support Library — a Web-based data warehouse and decision support system that provides centralized access to data — to school systems across the country.

The school system developed the library for its own use, which allows employees to analyze data on student demographics, course enrollment, marks, standardized tests, special education and other service programs. The data provided could help in the development of school plans and supports federal, state and local initiatives such as the No Child Left Behind Act. In addition, the program can be used to access achievement data to identify students in need of additional resources. The partnership will allow other school systems to purchase the library program from Fairfax County or to access it through one of the three application services providers.
