Thomas Haid, son of Terry and Susan Haid of Fairfax Station and a senior at Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, has been accepted to four colleges and offered over $30,000 in annual scholarships. Haid was accepted to the University of Colorado at Boulder, Mary Washington College, the University of Miami and Ohio State University. Ohio State University offered him the Buckeye Scholarship, worth a total of $18,500, and a choice between an Army ROTC scholarship and a Navy ROTC scholarship. He plans to attend Ohio State University next year on one of the ROTC scholarships.

Amanda Hoeser, daughter of Steven and Nancy Hoeser of Burke, received the Outstanding Student in Journalism award at the Academic Awards Banquet at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg. Hoeser, a 1999 graduate of James Robinson Secondary School, is a senior communication studies major.

Christopher M. Hydock of Burke has accepted membership into the Golden Key International Honour Society, George Mason University Chapter. Christopher was individually honored during a campus ceremony. Membership is by invitation only to the top 15 percent of juniors and seniors in all fields of study. Hydock is a junior majoring in biology. He graduated from Lake Braddock Secondary School in 2000.
