Sexual Assault

<bt>Fairfax County Crime Solvers is asking for the public's assistance identifying the man responsible for sexually assaulting an 18-year-old female employee at the Target Store, located at 12197 Sunset Hills Road, in the Reston area. On Thursday, Sept. 25, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a man struck up a conversation with the woman inside the store. While they were talking in the accessories department, the man sexually assaulted her. The female immediately went to her supervisor and the man left the store in an unknown direction.

The man was described as white, 30- to 40-years-old, six feet tall, 200 pounds, with short brown hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt with green short sleeves, black shorts and dark tennis shoes. He was also described as having a very muscular build and may work out at a local gym in the area.

Anyone with information on this sexual assault or the man involved is asked to call Fairfax County Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777 or 703-691-8888. A $1,000 cash reward will be paid for information which leads to an arrest and indictment. Callers may remain anonymous.

<sh>Suspects Arrested

<bt>The Herndon Police apprehended three suspects Oct. 5 allegedly in the process of committing grand larceny at Champion Motor Sports.

According to police, Daniel Richard Moore, 18, of Sterling, and two Herndon teens, 15 and 16 years old, were found attempting to take three off-road four-wheel vehicles, with a combined valued in excess of $15,000. During the investigation, an additional 15-year-old male from Sterling was also linked to the crime by police.

Moore was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detection Center, where he was held on a $10,000 bond. Juvenile petitions were obtained for the three teens.

<sh>Scrooge Auditions

<bt>The Elden Street Players will be holding auditions for the winter production of its Family Theater presentation of the musical "Scrooge." The production is a joint-venture with the Herndon Towne Square Singers and the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department.

Auditions will take place Saturday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 19, at 4:30 p.m., at the Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave.

All roles are open, all ages and all cultures are sought. No role is precast. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and require singing. An accompanist will be provided.

"Scrooge" is based on the Charles Dickens holiday story, "A Christmas Carol." Production dates are Dec. 12, 13 and 14.

<sh>Foundation Kicks Off Fund-raiser

<bt>The Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts announces the official kick off of its fund-raising efforts for the construction of the future Herndon Arts Center Saturday, Oct. 18, from 2-5 p.m.

The free community event at the future site of the center, 750 Center Street, will include live entertainment, an artists gallery, food and drink; and the community is invited to help paint a mural on to the Hands Inc. building currently located on the site.
