<sh>Regional Park Authority Meets

<bt>The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority Board will meet Thursday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m., at the National Recreation & Park Association Ahrens Institute, 22377 Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn. Next month's meeting is Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Authority’s headquarters, the Walter L. Mess Building, 5400 Ox Road in Fairfax Station.

<sh>Sully Land Use, Traffic

<bt>The Sully District Council of Citizens Associations Land-Use and Transportation Committee will meet Monday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in meeting room 2 of the Sully District Governmental Center, 4900 Stonecroft Blvd. in Chantilly. Carol Hawn will discuss the ramifications of the fact that, by the end of October, Sully Plantation will lose its traffic light on Route 28, and its entrance will become a right in/right out only.

<sh>WFCM Holds Grand Opening

<bt>Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (WFCM) will hold a grand opening Sunday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at its new location. It's at 13981 Metrotech Drive in Chantilly, between Blockbuster Video and Backyard Grill & Bar. Local dignitaries, including Supervisor Michael R. Frey (R-Sully) are expected to attend. The move consolidated WFCM's food pantry, clothes closet and business office all in one spot. However, it still needs a volunteer receptionist; call 703-988-9656.

<sh>Learn about Road Improvements

<bt>The West Fairfax County Citizens Association (WFCCA) Land-Use Committee will hold a transportation meeting Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. It will be in the Sully District Governmental Center at 4900 Stonecroft Blvd., in Chantilly.

Federal, state and county transportation officials will be on hand to discuss planned road improvements, including the Manassas Battlefield Bypass, the Tri-County Connector and the widening of I-66. Confirmed participants are: Young Ho Chang, Fairfax County Department of Transportation; Jack Van Dop, FHWA (Battlefield Bypass); and Ken Wilkinson, VDOT-Environmental Division. The public is welcome to attend.

<sh>Springfield/Fairfax Land Use

<bt>The Springfield District/Fairfax Center Land-Use Committee will meet Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. in conference room 8 of the Fairfax County Government Center. The topic will be The Peterson Cos.' plans to develop the currently county-owned "Land Bay A," next to Kohl's and Galyan's, in Fair Lakes. For more information, call Marlae Schnare at 703-324-2500.

<bt>The next meeting of the Clifton Town Council will be Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Clifton Town Meeting Hall, 12641 Chapel Road in Clifton.

<bt>Cub Scout Pack 893 of Centreville United Methodist Church is now recruiting for all levels.
