Starting next Monday, patrons going to the post office on Chain Bridge Road will find its doors locked. The post office is closing the Chain Bridge Road location after the end of business on Saturday, April 10, and it will open its new location on Judicial Drive and Page Avenue on April 12.
A grand-opening ceremony will take place later this month.
"I think they're excited about getting a brand-new facility," said acting postmaster Dennis Voorhees on postal employees.
The new post office will have parking, as well as a retail area where customers may purchase stamps and packaging items. In several weeks, the post office will also start doing passports.
"We should be able to be more efficient," Voorhees said.
Post office hours will remain the same, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, from 8:30 a.m.- 12 p.m.
The new post office is located on 10660 Page Ave., Fairfax.
