"Basic Automotive Knowledge," is an in-depth look at car care. Six sessions cover basic functions of automotive systems and automotive diagnostics. Spaces are available in the Herndon Community Center's spring Lifeguard Training class. This course trains and certifies American Red Cross lifeguards. This is the most comprehensive course to date, and includes rescue techniques, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED. To be eligible for the class, participants must be 15 years old by the last day of the class. Participants must also pass a pre-course swim test. The class begins Saturday, May 1 from 9 a.m.-12 noon for student swim skills testing. The rest of the course is scheduled Saturdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., May 8-June 19. There is no class May 29 in observance of Memorial Day weekend. The Herndon Community Center is located at 814 Ferndale Avenue, Herndon. Self-Defense.
