A Midsummer Night's Dream — (November 2003)

- performed on "Arena Style" stage

- many artistic backgrounds created with projector on backdrop as well as painted art work

- sold out every night

- performed with original dialogue in modern setting of a New York magazine publishing house

"Shakespeare Under the Stars" — promotional performance for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (October 2003)

- interdisciplinary study/combined performance in garden courtyard outside and with Dave Hincher, physics teacher portraying Galileo in WSHS planetarium

- display of selected scenes from Midsummer

Virginia Theatre Association Statewide One Act Play -- presentation of "Present Tense" by John McNamara -- winner of the VTA People's Choice Award (October- November 2003)

- awarded "Best Actor": Mike Newsome

- awarded "Best Actress": Kate Harding

- directed by Brendan Carter

"On the Spot Playwriting Competition" —

1st place — Karla Sakas

"Flambée" —one act play by James Buescher, Virginia High School League Patriot District play

Winter One-Acts (February) presented by the second year Theatre Arts classes

"Merry Widows of Windsor" —compilation of Shakespearean scenes presented at the Washington, D.C. Emily Jordan Folger High School Theatre Festival — awarded the Brian Cabe "Best in Festival Award" exemplifying the spirit of the festival

"Once on this Island" by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and nominated for eight Tony awards including "Best Musical" — WSHS's spring large-scale musical in rehearsal now for opening on April 28- May 8

Thespian Honor Society Spring Awards Banquet — May 18 - Springfield Hilton Hotel

Senior Showcase - advanced theatre arts classes present final performances of original work and competition highlights in early June.
