Principal Puckers For Pig

At the height of TV Turn-Off Week, Daisy the Pig visited William Halley Elementary School to promote reading. Daisy was on tour with owner Farmer Minor, going to various schools throughout the day on Thursday, April 22, kissing principals along the way. Minor made the students take part in a pledge to read over the summer as well.

"You guys have summer vacation coming, up and that's a good time to read books," Minor said.

Then it was time for principal Janet Funk to pucker up, to the squeals of the students.

Daisy and Farmer Minor come from Minor's Farm and Cider Mill in Bristol, Conn. Daisy's mission is to encourage reading as she and Farmer Minor present "Pig Out on Reading" across the country.

In Fairfax County, Daisy paid a visit to Bonnie Brae, Cameron, Colin Powell, Silverbrook, Dranesville, Forest Edge, Oak View, Union Mill, Mosby Woods and Forestville elementary schools, in addition to William Halley Elementary.
