The South Lakes High School Little Theatre will present "Little Shop of Horrors" on April 29, 30 and May 1. Performances on April 22 and 29 are at 7 p.m., April 23 and 30 at 7:30 p.m., and April 24 and May 1 at 8 p.m. Admission is $7 presale and $8 at the door. For ticket information, call 703-715-4589.

Kelly Putman of Reston was among a select group of student "Citizen Leaders" honored recently during an annual citizen leader awards ceremony at Longwood University. Putnam received the Priceps Distinguished Contributions Award.

The National Parent Teachers' Association has certified Buzz Aldrin Elementary as a Parent Involvement School of Excellence. Schools of Excellence certification by the National PTA recognizes schools that uphold the highest standards in parent involvement.

Nicole L. Whitmore of Reston was named to the faculty's list of notable achievement for the fall term of 2003-04 academic year at Roanoke College.

The Forest Edge Elementary Kindergarten Information Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 11 in the school cafeteria at 7 p.m. to give a brief overview of the kindergarten program at Forest Edge and answer questions regarding immunization and heath records, as well as other documentation, needed to register in Fairfax County Public Schools. Children must turn 5 years old on or before September 30, 2004 to enter kindergarten in the 2004-5 school year. This meeting is for parents only; parents and kindergarten students will be invited to a special orientation in June. To pick up forms prior to the meeting, call the school office at 703-925-8000.

"Desserts and All That Jazz!" at Hunter Woods Community Center on May 14 at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy the South Lakes High School Jazz Band, and sample delicious desserts from some of Reston's finest restaurants. Tickets are $15. For more information, visit www.southlakesband.org.

Ambleside School, a Christian school in Reston, is currently accepting applications for grades K-8. Ambleside will host an open house on Thursday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. All interested parents are encouraged to come and experience this learning community.
