Teacher Arrested after Accident

<bt>A 32-year-old Annandale area man was arrested Friday, April 23, after he left the scene of a crash near Inova Fairfax Hospital, police said. On Friday, April 23, around 8:15 p.m. Steven Lee, 58, of the McLean area, was driving south on Gallows Road in a Toyota SUV when he stopped for an ambulance with its emergency equipment activated that was trying to turn into the hospital. The Toyota was rear ended by a Ford Mustang, driven by David Alexander Jakes of the 8300 block of Tobin Road. Jakes allegedly left the scene after Lee called police. A passenger in Lee’s Toyota, Tiffany Lee, 15, was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and treated for minor injuries caused by the crash. Officers later arrested Jakes and charged him with felony hit and run. Jakes is a teacher at Francis Scott Key Middle School.
