<sh>Volunteers Sought for Adopt-a-Spot

<bt>Reston Association is seeking volunteers to participate in its Adopt-a-Spot program, in which residents and local businesses hold litter clean-ups in designated areas. In exchange for periodic cleanings, the volunteers are given a sign with their names posted at the spot. To apply for the program, choose a spot and fax an application to Ha Brock at 703-435-9481. Applications can be found at RA's website, www.reston.org.

<sh>Safe Sitter Program Honored

<bt>A Reston Hospital Center program that trains babysitters how to better care for young children has been recognized for its 12 years of community service. The Safe Sitter Program was named a "Best Practices" program by the national Safe Sitter organization and was also recently honored by the Martin Luther King Jr. Cultural Foundation's with the 2004 Outstanding Educator Award. Started at Reston Hospital in 1992, the program has trained more than 2,000 boys and girls, ages 11 to 14. For details on the program, call 1-877-689-3627.
