Megan Cristine Pinnell, daughter of Thomas and Marcia Pinnell of Springfield, graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Elon University at commencement exercises on Saturday, May 22, 2004. With 949 graduates, the class of 2004 was the largest in Elon's history.

Karoline R. Sciarretta of Springfield was recently been named to the dean's list for the spring 2004 semester at Boston University.

Celine Fejeran, a senior at American University, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2004 semester. Fejeran is a resident of Lorton. To qualify for the dean's list, students must obtain at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

Nicole Briley of Springfield, a sophomore at American University, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2004 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must obtain at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

Elisabeth Gammache of Springfield was named to the dean's honor roll for the spring 2004 semester at the University of Tulsa. To be named to the dean's honor roll, students had to have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the semester. Gammache is majoring in the arts and sciences.

Adib Kadir of Springfield, a junior computer science major in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, has been selected to be orientation leaders.

Dan Richardson of Springfield, a senior majoring in industrial and systems engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech, has been selected to be Virginia Tech orientation leaders.

Katherine J. Wainwright recently graduated magna cum laude from Mary Washington College, with a bachelor of science degree. Wainwright, a 2000 graduate of West Springfield High School, will attend the Virginia Tech veterinary medicine school this fall.

David Anthony Comella of Springfield graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a degree in Engineering Mechanics.
