The Women's Center, an organization that provides a variety of counseling and support services to women, recognized U.S. Reps Tom Davis (R-11th) and Frank Wolf (R-10th) as its 2004 "Legislators of the Year."
"This is an opportunity for us to be able to say publicly 'thank you' for all of the support," said Cynthia Huheey, executive director of the center.
Both congressman expressed support for the center and its work. "I'm a great believer in what their mission is," Davis said.
"We're glad, working with Tom [Davis], to be able to help you do what you do," Wolf said.
The Women's Center credits the congressmen with securing two grants from the U.S. Department of Justice for $291,000 and $298,000 to support its programs to assist victims of domestic violence. The center is currently seeking a third grant.
